Oxy Fuel Technology
Oxy-Fuel Combustion Technology is a method/process rather than specific equipment. Oxygen is used with fossil fuel [coal, oil, natural gas] and biomass for combustion, while air is excluded.
Most importantly, although flame temperatures exceed 2,480°C and reach as high as 2,925°C, process temperatures have been maintained at the same levels as with conventional types of combustion without any damage to existing equipment and without the need for new materials.
Compared with traditional air-fossil fuel methods, the aluminium company saw an average 73% reduction in fuel usage.
The environmental effect has been equally impressive.
- Since ambient air is excluded, there is a virtual elimination of NOx in the exit gases.
- Significant reduction in other greenhouse gases, except for CO2
